Formed in 2023, Ellipsis U.S. Onshore is a Dallas-based private energy company focused on the acquisition and development of large, producing oil and gas assets in the United States. Ellipsis' initial strategy will be focused on acquiring non-operated working interests, as well as mineral and royalty interests, via acquisitions throughout the major onshore U.S. basins.
Led by an accomplished management team with a strong operations-focused background, Ellipsis' highest priority is alignment of interests with operators and financial partners. Our competitive edge stems from our substantial access to capital, openness to creative structures, and a cultivated network. Matt Gentry
Managing Director
Matt has over 20 years of experience underwriting, securing and leading upstream energy investments. Matt has secured capital commitments of over $1 billion. Additionally, he has developed and divested of over $550mm of upstream oil and gas properties within the horizontal San Andres play in the Permian Basin ($200mm), the Eagle Ford Shale play of South Texas ($200mm) and the Wolfcamp Shale play in the Permian Basin ($150mm). Matt is a Certified Petroleum Geologist & Geophysicist with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). Matt has earned a Master of Science in Petroleum Geology from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from Mississippi State University.
Adam Howard
Managing Director
Adam has over 17 years of experience in reservoir, production, and operations engineering across the Gulf of Mexico (U.S. and Mexico), all major U.S. onshore basins, and select European and South American basins. He has developed and managed large greenfield and brownfield assets in the Permian Basin and Gulf of Mexico, inclusive of horizontal development, waterfloods, and CO2 operations, totaling thousands of wells, associated infrastructure, and personnel. Additionally, he has underwritten and secured funding for projects in the Permian, Gulf Coast, Powder River, Haynesville, and DJ Basins. Adam holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University.
Keith Kimme
Technical Advisor
Keith's expertise in reservoir and deal evaluation spans 15+ years, including key roles at Monadnock Resources, Netherland Sewell & Associates, and his own consulting firm. Keith's contributions at Netherland Sewell frequently revolved around international offshore fields, but the latter part of his career has been notably focused on U.S. shale plays. Keith holds a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Elizabeth Hall
Sr. Engineering Analyst
Elizabeth has over 16 years of experience in upstream oil and gas technical evaluations. Prior to joining Ellipsis, Elizabeth was with Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors for eight years where she managed valuation databases and production monitoring for all portfolio companies. Before Kayne Anderson, Elizabeth spent six years with Netherland, Sewell & Associates where she gained diverse experience in data manipulation, database management, economic modeling, and report preparation. Elizabeth has experience across numerous reserve modeling and data visualization platforms. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Texas Christian University.
Nick DiLeo
Associate
Nick has over 10 years upstream transaction analysis, asset management, and energy finance experience. Nick has evaluated and executed deals in multiple basins with over $500MM deployed across the Permian, DJ, Powder River, and Appalachia. Prior to Ellipsis, Nick served as Sr. Analyst for U.S. Energy Development Corp., followed by Invito Energy Partners, two drill-co focused investment firms. Nick started his career at Red Titan I/PPC Acquisition Co., an EnCap Investments portfolio company. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southern Methodist University.
Steven Reker
Reservoir Engineer
Steven has over 13 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations and development. He began his career with Whiting Petroleum in West Texas working on their CO2 tertiary assets in Ward County. Steven went onto work production and reservoir engineering roles for RSP Permian, Concho Resources and White Rock Oil and Gas. He has worked assets in multiple basins including the Permian, Bakken, and Niobrara. Steven graduated from Texas A&M University in 2010 with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering; and earned his MBA in 2016 from Texas Tech University.
Pete Marshall
Land Manager
Pete has over 13 years of diverse land-related experience in the oil & gas sector. Starting his career as an independent landman along the Texas Gulf Coast, he handled leases and title curative before transitioning to the Appalachia Basin with Anadarko Petroleum. Pete then contributed to the success of two Three Rivers Operating funds with both achieving MOICs > 2x. His journey continued with TRP Operating in the Midland Basin and Scoop/Stack play. Succeeding TRP, Pete served as Partner and VP Land & Commercial at Iron Orchard Operating where he oversaw land efforts for ~4k BOE/day. He holds a BBA with a concentration in Management from Texas A&M University.
Cynthia Koch
Sr. Engineering Analyst
Cynthia has over 13 years of experience managing complex data, creating reports, and supporting engineering teams. Prior to joining Ellipsis, she was with Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. ("NSAI") as a Senior Petroleum Analyst. As an analyst with NSAI since 2010, Cynthia became experienced in database management as well as production and economic data analysis. Cynthia worked as an Elementary Teacher and Math Curriculum Liaison with the Lubbock Independent School District before entering the oil and gas industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master's in Elementary Education, both from Texas Tech University.
Jack Madden
Sr. Associate
Jack joined Ellipsis in February 2024 and currently serves as an Sr. Associate, specializing in deal evaluation and asset management. Prior to joining Ellipsis, he was an associate at LM Energy Partners, where he contributed to commercial and business development efforts. Jack began his career in Midland with Concho Resources in their Business Development group. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University.
Krystal Mays
Administrative Assistant
Krystal has over 10 years of experience in office administration and customer service. She began her career in construction, managing commercial and residential projects in central Arkansas. After moving to Houston, TX, Krystal worked as an Executive Assistant at Bechtel Oil & Gas for several years. A natural leader, she is passionate about fostering collaboration and supporting the growth of her peers. Krystal graduated from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2010 with a B.S. in Construction Management.
Marshall Stiles
Reservoir Engineer
Marshall has over 7 years of experience in production and reservoir engineering across a multitude of onshore U.S. fields. He has maintained conventional and CO2 flooded assets along the Gulf in Texas and Mississippi, waterflooded assets in Montana and North Dakota, and unconventional assets on the Central Basin Platform. His current focus is evaluating potential acquisition opportunities for Ellipsis. Marshall earned his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Brian Pfitzinger
Accounting Director
Brian has over 13 years of accounting experience with a specialty in upstream oil and gas accounting. Prior to joining Ellipsis, Brian was with Embark Consulting for two years, advising privately-owned upstream and midstream energy companies on financial reporting, acquisition accounting, and audit facilitation. Before Embark, Brian has worked for PetroCap, Verdad Resources, Merit Energy Company, and KPMG. Brian is a CPA and holds a Master in Professional Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
